In Exalogic racks (quarter, half & full) we have 2 Infiniband Leaf NM2-GW Switches (in case of full rack it will be 4) and Infiniband 36P spine switch. Most common question which comes is which switch is NM2-GW leaf switch and which one is 36P spine switch.
Easiest way to identify whether the Infiniband switch is spine switch or NM2-GW leaf switch is to check "ibswitches" command output and look at Switches description.
Description of NM2-GW Leaf switches is shown as "SUN IB QDR GW switch" where as description for Spine switch is shown as "SUN DCS 36P QDR". Below is example snippet of "ibswitches" command.
